White Tank Mountain Regional Park

20304 West White Tank Mountain Road, Waddell (3.3 miles)
Driving directions https://goo.gl/maps/YwUMUQzYLHr

The White Tank Mountains in the West Valley of Phoenix are among the best conserved natural areas in the metropolitan region. They lie along the western edge of the urban environment, standing as a natural barrier to the continued growth of one of America’s fastest-growing cities. The White Tank Mountains harbor incredible natural and cultural resources including a robust mule deer herd, mountain lions, Javelina, and petroglyphs. Management of these large recreation areas strives to balance the preservation of natural and cultural resources with the continued use by recreationists, naturalists, and the general public.

A field trip to Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium, & Safari Park will complement any family vacation. Kids of all ages can feed lory parrots, learn about animal ambassadors and see some display natural behaviors during a Wildlife Encounter Show, and meet baby animals in our children’s play area and petting zoo.

The Wigwam Golf Resort

300 Wigwam Lane, Litchfield Park (11.7 miles)

Driving Directions https://goo.gl/maps/ShS7Q1FyBSK2

This Arizona treasure was established in the 1930s, a time when golf courses did not get built through dense housing developments, and certainly not with tight, target fairways. At the Wigwam, the golf courses have remained at the top of the list. This jewel of the desert is among the Southwest’s last remaining golf resorts built for a pure golf experience. Canals, streams and lakes cascade through the journey. The shadows cast on greens and bunkers are from majestic parkland trees, not multi-story resort buildings.

Desert Diamond Casino West Valley

9431 West Northern Avenue, Glendale (14.4 miles)

Driving directions https://goo.gl/maps/o41kntvGcpB2

The casino offers Class II gaming devices that look and act just like Las Vegas slot machines. The only differences are internal; RNG generated Vegas slots are played against the casino, whereas Class II games are bingo-based and players compete against each other for prizes without ever knowing the difference.  Progressive slots with jackpots starting at $1 million are linked with other progressive machines at various tribal casinos. Bets range from $0.01 to $5. All gaming is ticket in/ticket out and there are plenty of ticket kiosks spread throughout the casino for easy cash-ins.
